For the First Time, Study Shows That Young Women Abandon Religion More Than Men Do
By Tim Daniels
A new study reveals a significant shift in religious trends: for the first time, more young women are leaving religion than men. Historically, men have been less religiously committed, but among Generation Z, 54% of those disaffiliating from their faith are women. This shift is linked to a rise in feminism, with 61% of Gen Z women identifying as feminists, and many feeling that religious institutions perpetuate gender inequality. Additionally, the growing number of young women identifying as LGBTQ and the negative treatment of these communities by religious groups are major factors driving this exodus. As more young women leave religion, this change could have a lasting impact on religious communities and the future of faith traditions.
