First stellar Coronal Mass Ejection detected beyond our Sun

Astronomers have just made a groundbreaking discovery by observing a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from a nearby red dwarf star. This CME is launching plasma at incredible speeds, a phenomenon we’ve rarely seen from our own Sun. The implications of this event are significant; the intense bursts of activity could strip away the atmospheres of any planets in the star’s orbit. This observation not only expands our understanding of stellar behaviour but also raises important questions about the habitability of planets outside our solar system.
