Mapping the Brain
https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/mapping-the-brain/
We’re getting closer to building a digital brain—and it all starts with a mouse. Scientists from top institutions have just mapped a chunk of the mouse visual cortex, slicing it into 25,000 paper-thin layers and using AI to rebuild it in 3D. The result? A functioning digital model of brain wiring that can actually predict how a real mouse brain responds to what it sees. This is a major step toward modelling neurological diseases and building digital replicas of brain function. Think of it as the neuroscience version of the Human Genome Project—but even more complex and maybe just as world-changing.
The project, called MICrONS, is aiming for a full digital brain someday, with huge implications for medicine, ethics, and how we understand ourselves.
