Who we are
Our website address is: http://wecanreason.com. We Can Reason (Western Canadian Reason Conference) is owned and operated by the Rocky Mountain Atheists (RMA – www.RockyMountainAtheists.ca). RMA is a non-profit society registered in Alberta Canada and based in Calgary. We aim to be a safe and supportive secular community dedicated to serving society; to support those who have been marginalized or traumatized as a result of faith-based beliefs; and to provide and promote evidence-based learning opportunities. WeCanReason, being part of RMA, shares all data with RMA; all data is owned by RMA and is utilized by RMA.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
By visiting on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with
We do not share your personal information that we collect with anyone outside of WCR/RMA. We utilize this information to market to you and to understand our website visitors. You can opt out of receiving marketing emails from us at any time and we will always honour that request. We utilize services to detect and prevent spam. Other third party services such as payments (we use PayPal) may collect information about you, your devices, and your account with those services (if you have one) in order to facilitate their services. We do not share data we collect with these services, nor do they share data they collect with us.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on one of our websites, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Website administrators can see and edit that information. You may be able to edit portions of that information yourself. You can always request changes or deletion of the data and we will do our best within our capacity to honour those requests. However, we may need to retain purchase history for a period of time before it can be deleted.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Payments and related information are processed through the PayPal service, which collects and manages sensitive information such as credit or debit cards, expiry dates. WCR/RMA does NOT have access to this information nor does it collect or store financial information.
