This piece argues that while AI can streamline research, tutoring, and feedback, overreliance can blunt problem-solving skills, reduce independent analysis, and lessen resilience. The solution is intentional classroom design: teachers guiding inquiry, students engaging with challenging prompts, and clear assessments that reward reasoning over speed. The goal is to harness AI as a tool that enhances, not replaces, the hard work of thinking.
