As Canadians, we pride ourselves on making decisions based on evidence and reason. But when the Census asks “What is your religion?”, the current instructions nudge us to answer based on our childhood or heritage rather than our present reality. This creates a “legitimacy gap” where religious organizations use inflated numbers to claim a broad social mandate they no longer have. If you trust peer-reviewed journals over ancient parables, make sure the 2026 Census reflects a modern, rational Canada.
